Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown 2007 - Liberation Finals

Canada represents in the fast Lindy Finals!

Annie Trudeau from Montral and Max Pitruzzella from Montpellier, France took first place in the Liberation (Fast Lindy) division at this year's Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown held last month in Minneapolis.

The Liberation contest is the most prestegious contest at the premiere Lindy Hop Competition in the world! In the true spirit of Lindy Hop, Annie and Max pulled off some incredible innovative aerials and tricks with some solid fast dancing to become the clear winners. Second and third places were taken by members of the Harlem Hot Shots, the premiere Lindy Hop performance troupe from Sweden.

Some of the best social dancers in the world strut their stuff

Well, ULHS 2007 was last weekend and now some of the video is on youtube. There were some great team performances, couples showcase routines and tons of great dancing in the Jack and Jill, Freedom (slow), Revolution (medium) and Liberation (fast) divisions. Once again, some amazing dancers put the ultimate in Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown.

This clip is the Jack and Jill finals were dancers get to show their social dancing skills with a random partner and live music.

Video of the last (4th song) of the prelims of the Flyweight (Fast Lindy) competitions at Lindy Bout in Vancouver. This was the 4th fast song in a row these crazy kids danced to. The music is from the famous Lindy Hop sequence in the movie Helzapoppin.

This was the first song of the first heat of the prelimiary round of the advanced Jack and Jill. There were two heats, each with a slow, medium and fast song. Dancers were judged individually and randomly partnered for each song.

A fun, high energy routine with lots of Charleston and Jazz steps. Notice that there are few aerials but the routine is still high energy and exciting.

This is a bit of a re-mix, original video with new music dubbed in.

The clip is from an episode of the Playboy TV show originally airing in 1959. Al Minns and Leon James from famous Whitey's Lindy Hoppers demonstrate the Charleston. I have a copy of this clip without sound however jazz dance expoert Peter Loggins from L.A. took a bit of artistic license and added some modern flava!
