Blues I: Intro to Blues Dancing
Blues dancing was the staple of juke joints and house rent parties. Commonly danced to slower tempo music, Blues dancing expresses the grit and emotion of the music with simple, rhythmic musical movement. If you love Blues music, this is the dance class for you.
There are many styles of blues dancing, this class will explore a few of them including Jookin, Ballroomin' and Slow Drag. You'll learn the basics of partnering and lead-follow connection, how to use the music with simple 1 and 2 step rhythms to create a fun, musical dance. We'll also introduce some styling variations to keep it interesting and some flashier moves to pull out when the music inspires you.
Blues I includes classes plus Office Hours. Office Hours is an extra session where you can come ask questions, get extra help or simply practice what you've learned in the previous classes.
